Team 4Mil rider, Lieutenant Alan Fischer ran the inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Marathon this past weekend in an effort to expand his cycling horizons. Alan paced his friend and fellow platoon leader, Lieutenant John Commerford, to a 3:42 finish and a 12-minute personal record! Alan is no stranger to marathons; completing the race in Georgia makes it Alan’s 9th state in which he has run a marathon or ultra-marathon. Alan says he aspires to run a marathon or ultra in every state for the same reason he is so intent on winning the Race Across America, “I love America!” Cross training is part of Team 4Mil’s strategy of bringing the fittest athletes to this amazing race. Although it is early in the year and our focus is on fundraising and logistics planning, look for stories about our athletes as they prepare for this incredible race.
