Team 4Mil Crew member Competes in 2k Open Water Swim
Team 4Mil Crew member Adrien Thom competed in a 2k open swim in downtown Austin on May 5, 2012. The race was also a high school state opener resulting in a mass start of approximately 215 competitors. After a strong swim downhill (against the current) Adrien finished 51st overall and 2nd in her age group. Way to go Adrien!

Team 4Mil Arrives in Fayetteville, NC – Training Camp 2012
35 Members of Team 4Mil and the Wounded Warrior Project descended on Fayetteville, NC for the annual Race Across America (RAAM) training camp. Members from our Team 1 (Wounded Warrior Team) and Team 2 (US Service-member Team) and their associated crew were treated to 4 days of classroom training, practical experience, riding, and racing.

US Military Cycle Competition Heats Up for 2012 Race Across America (RAAM)
RAAM’s 2011 Armed Forces Challenge Cup winners, Team 4Mil, will defend their title by returning to the world’s most challenging endurance event again in 2012. Team 4Mil hosts screening of award winning film, “Bicycle Dreams”.
On Thursday December 8, Team 4Mil hosted a sold-out screening of Stephen Auerbach’s film, “Bicycle Dreams” (www.bicycledreamsmovie.com) at Arlington, VA’s Cinema ‘n Draft House (www.arlingtondrafthouse.com).

It’s a Marathon!!!
Team 4Mil rider, Lieutenant Alan Fischer ran the inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Marathon this past weekend in an effort to expand his cycling horizons. Alan paced his friend and fellow platoon leader, Lieutenant John Commerford, to a 3:42 finish and a 12-minute personal record! Livestrong, Ride For The Roses

Soldier Ride New York
Team 4Mil participated in the Wounded Warrior Project’s annual NY “Soldier Ride” along with members of the UK’s BattleBack Battalion and the Israeli Defense Force. The City of New York and Long Island residents displayed a warm welcome for our hero’s with over 3500 registered riders and nearly every local fire department and police precinct paid their respects.

Final Preparations: Completing a rider exchange
The big day is here and Team 4Mil is ready!
Friday activities were centered around rider and vehicle exchanges. We ran through the drills a handful of times, practicing the exchange and reviewing the rules of an exchange site. In RAAM an exchange is defined as “the point when the Racer on the road stops riding and a new Racer continues forward progress”.
There are two types of exchanges.

Oceanside California; a break in the clouds
Since we arrived in Oceanside, we have experienced what the locals call ‘June Gloom’. The weather, although mild,

San Luis Rey River Trail Training Ride
This morning the team woke and had a light breakfast around 0700. Our crew chief gave some directions and a few words about the days schedule, and then the riders set out to do a 2 hour training ride through Camp Pendleton. The team opted to have a small support crew follow the riders, so new drivers and navigators could practice their support skills.
